anybody know what kind of recording software "the pros use"? something like Total Recorder on steroids? I am filling out a professional studio for work and I'm good with the hardware, but not the software. cost is no object.

if its a real recording studio and theyre asking you to do it and you dont have that experience then theyre in big trouble....and deserve what they get but heres what you need:

1. pro tools is hardware and software . PT for tracking vocals/instruments....but i hate digidesign with every cell in my being.

2. ableton live

3. ableton live

4. as many cracks as you can get your hands on

5. macintosh computer

6. a swift kick in their rear

Sound Forge has been around for some time. Pretty good for editing and cleaning up. Pro Tools is sweet, but it's really on effective if you have a nice machine to go along with it (dual g5).

let me count the ways...

ive been using PT for a long time and its just a festering puss woulnd that never heals. the most recent reason is that their core audio driver STILL doesnt work with tiger. apple gave a fkn countdown on their site as to when tiger will be available. digi never even so much as has a sentence on their site stating that theyre working on it for us. they finally got it available for TDM but no mention for LE users at all. all the other companies either had a working update ready or an announcement that its coming.

thats not the end of the world in itself but its stuff like that that over the years knaws at you like a hungry midget.

they are in no way about the end user and all about keeping its user base pegged to buying their hardware. they will pay for this mistake. and why no VST support? why not as many tracks as the computer can run instead of limiting you? and why do you HAVE to use their hardware even with LE?

i cant wait for a company to come along with an app that is set up like PT so i can edit and record vocals in that type of environment without all the limitations and BS.

these are just the reasons off the top of my head...

the picture of the studio isnt a recording studio...its a broadcast studio...

what are you gonna do in a broadcast studio with production software besides play around on a laptop in an acoustically controlled environment, make commercials? pro tools for that.

do you run a radio station or whatever that is off an analog clock from office max?

what is that studio for...it looks like thats an expensive broadcast console ya got there.
