Re: FAO Ipod Owners

Does anyone know how long the 4th G 20gb iPod battery is supposed to last? I swear i'm only getting like around 3-4 hours.

I thought the battery was supposed to last for 10 hours...but that's prob with the EQ turned off and the volume set to low listening to Aborigine mating calls.
And with up to 18 hours of battery life, it?ll outlast the latest trend.
Mine gets about 8 hours. Just make sure to keep charging it - don't let it run out. I have my background light set to go off after a couple of seconds, but I'm not sure what I have for EQ.

Re: FAO Ipod Owners

Those are some strange photos.

There is a way to hack the Itrip and add a bigger antenna, they showed how to do it on G4TV and they said it boosted the signal by a good 10 times the range. So when people came by your car...if they were listening to their radio, the second they pulled beside you they would be listening to your ipod.

Would be a funny way to mess with people.

Isn't that exactly what you shouldn't do since most batteries have memory? If iPod batteries are anything like regular batteries, you should drain it completely then recharge it so you will have an actual full charge.

Re: FAO Ipod Owners

"Lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in iPod, have none of the memory effects seen in nickel-based rechargeable batteries."

Thanks for finding that Mike. I watched a lady from 'Popular Science' magazine on CNBC a few weeks back and the topic was how to expand battery life in today's electronics. That's exactly what she said and even pointed out that it's better to constantly "top-off" a Li-on battery.

Re: FAO Ipod Owners

Cool...

Are you having problems with the battery meter? the Apple support site statest that it's "accurate."

I find that hard to believe bc my meter will be completely empty and it'll play for an hour or so more.

Kind of pisses me off considering how much I paid for this thing.

Going forward, i'm going to top this beootch off whenever i'm not using it.

#429813Post 21 of 23

I've noticed that about mine. It seems to drain more quickly according to the meter than it really does. Like you said, it will show completely empty (or just a millimeter or so) but still carry on for a while.

Re: FAO Ipod Owners

They say the battery lasts for 12 hours. I have a 20 GB Ipod 4th generation and mine is good for maximum 7 hours. I guess the 12 hours are not for people who listen to music loud. :|

7 hours! man, i'm getting half that at best...maybe i'm going deaf.
