Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

I'm a little bit excited to say the least. Still rocking a 4s and my wife has a 4. Wasn't too impressed with the 5/5s so I decided to wait it out. Hope I'm impressed enough this time around cause I sure as hell don't want an Android or Windows phone :)

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

I actually love my 5S and I'm really loving the 4" screen size. I don't know how I feel about the rumored upcoming 4.7" slimmed iteration of the iPhone (aka over-sized iPod Touch with a SIM slot) or the 5.5" gargantuan beast. Knowing I'm a tech junkie, my dad got me a Samsung Galaxy S5 on my last trip to India so I have a 5S and the S5 and I love them both for what they are.

Other than iOS 8, I don't think Apple's live event holds much excitement for me as the 5S has been really good to me (other than the odd bunch of OS bugs that have been creeping up from time to time).

Now if they announce some improvements to the upcoming Macbooks, those would be very welcome as I'm nearing the purchase of a new Laptop.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Am an old fashioned watch person... so the apple watch doesn't do much for me. Then again the iPhone 6 plus... I'm liking it.... either way I wanna get the 128gb one.... finally the upgrade that I was looking for.
I wanna get the 128gb one.... finally the upgrade that I was looking for.
The ONLY reason for me to upgrade, the number of photos and videos I have of my daughter on this device is resulting in me running out of space. But, having only recently sold my 5th gen iPod Touch, I'm happy to troop it out with my 5S for another year.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

How do you like your samsung S5 Kamal? I love the easy interface of the OS on the iphones, and that's the only reason I don't have a samsung phone. I have the 5C, and only paid about $30 for it, so for me it was worth saving $100 instead of buying the 5S. I also don't really get the android app system in general, although Im sure it's simple enough... the OS just looks like shit, compared with apples, which I am so accustomed to at this point. I am excited for the 6... My wife has the 4 still and it just feels so old and outdated compared to the 5... but compared to the 6, Clint you are going to love it :).

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Not impressed with the iWatch. I do need more storage on my 5 but want to hang in there and get on the S cycle.

#1729380Post 8 of 58

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

iwatch is a bit crap imo.. i too am much more of a classic watch person, or gshock.

will be getting a 6 though, have a 5 so im due for an upgrade anyway. :)

probably upgrade my 2008 aluminum mbp pretty soon too, those retina's sure look nice.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

So 4.7 or 5.5?

#1729414Post 10 of 58

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

I will be getting the 4.7" model. The 5.5 is too large to fit comfortably in my jeans pocket.

I'm not sure which memory size to get. I currently have a 64 GB model of the iPhone5, and it is always full. But the majority of my space is taken up by Apple Lossless music files to play on my car stereo. I am about to buy a new media player for the car this week, though. Audison BitPlay HD. It's an SSD media player that can run Flac files up to 24 bit 192kHz with an Optical output that can plug directly into my DSP. So, I'm about to have a lot less reason to store my music files on the phone. Maybe I won't need the 128 GB phone?

I am actually very curious about the Apple Watch. I have never been a watch-wearer before mostly because my cell phone has a clock on it. But the Apple Watch is going to have a lot more functionality than just keeping time. I'm interested to see and learn more about it.

my reasoning as well. i will probably up to the 64gb model, have a 16gb 5 currently and it kind of is a pain to keep refreshing the music on there every week or so (white ppl problems i know lol)

The S5 is really growing on me. The amoled screen with the borderline artificially popping colors is mind numbing when I stream movies wirelessly to the device. The stock music player is pretty good too, playing just about any format I've saved on there so far. Battery life (considering there is no SIM in the phone and it's mainly a wifi enabled media player for me so far) is pretty good, lasting more than 3 days with less then average use. The phone is narrow (like the iPhone 6 Plus) so despite being 5+ inches doesn't feel overwhelmingly large in the hands.

And since I got it in India, I got the Exynos Octa core processor version (not the quad core Snapdragon version) and although I haven't played with a comparable version to make an educated statement on performance, I have noticed no lag what-so-ever with the Octa core version. Add to the fact that I have programs to rip and download YouTube videos makes it easy to save nursery rhymes on it, which makes it a delight for my daughter to play with on long car drives. Add to it the ability to "lock" the screen and disable touch inputs when a video is playing helps with the fact that now my daughter can't even turn off the video or end up navigating to a different part of the phone and delete something unexpectedly - a REALLY handy feature of the stock video player.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Nobody talking about Apple Pay much, but I actually feel like this is probably the biggest reveal from yesterday.

Looks like Apple is about to turn the world of merchant processing on its head.

Also looks like Apple just blew Coin out of the water before they even set sail. I'm glad I didn't pay for a pre-order.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

It's kinda like the finger print sensor, it didn't create much hype until the phone actually launched and people started to use it, but holy shit can I not live without that bad boy anymore...

#1729516Post 15 of 58

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

I'm hyped. Still can't decide if I want the 4.7 or 5.5. I went as far as cutting exact size replicas out of cardstock so I could see how they both fit in my hand. I know I'm a total dork. Only thing I worry about with the 5.5 is being able to fit in my jeans pockets. Hell I can barely squeeze my 4s in there. I ain't about to be that guy with it clipped to his belt.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Ordered my wife an iPhone 6 which will get delivered on Friday. I'm waiting before I order mine. I want to see the larger model in person first before making a final decision. I'm fairly certain I will get the smaller one, though.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Mine should be here friday!!!!! Went with the 4.7 inch, i wanted the bigger one but apple aint getting an extra $100 out of me... I may regret it but i think the 4.7 will do just fine. Just wish the camera got a bump in pixels.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Got an iPhone 6 for me and my wife yesterday. 64GB for her, and 128GB for me. I decided to get the high capacity because my 2 iPod Classics just got stolen from my car earlier in the week. Apple just discontinued the iPod Classic, too. :(
From your car?!?! wtf?!
From my car, while it was parked in my garage. Left the garage door open when I put the trash out on Monday. Some inbred meth-addict came in and stole the iPods and some sunglasses from our cars. I caught the whole thing on camera because I have dash cams in my car, front and rear. Luckily, he didn't have enough time or the tools to get my car stereo. The look on his face when he saw the inside of my trunk was priceless.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Wholly hell man that's scary. I thought you moved? Or are you still in WP? Your car doesn't lock automatically? Does insurance cover the stolen items? One morning my wife got into our Prius to go somewhere (on a Sun morning) and she asked me if I was smoking again, to which I responded "wtf are you on about," or something like that. Anyway, I'm pretty sure an inbred meth head got into our car looking for iPods prob but came up empty. I dunno why that car doesn't lock automatically. My Avalon does.

Yes, still in WP. We bought our house but have not moved yet. Renovating and painting first. Probably move in another month or so.

The car only locks automatically if you click unlock on the remote but don't open a door within 30 seconds. I actually don't usually lock my car when it is in the garage because I frequently will leave my keys inside the house but go to the car to grab something like my glasses. Having the car locked is inconvenient.

Anyway, I got pretty damned lucky with how it turned out. Like I said, if he had the time and the tools he could have got my stereo equipment. Hell, there was a $900 DSP sitting in it's original box on the counter next to the car. He walked right past it. I have also been known to leave 2 of my laptop computers in that garage from time to time. Those were inside the house that day, thank God.

I need to go check with the police for an update. They said there have been a number of complaints about this dude. Kids playing in their yards mentioning a creepy guy casing out homes. I think with my video of him and his car, they should easily be able check the traffic light cameras and get his license plate to find him.

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Kind of further solidifies your decision to move as well I guess. At any rate, how are the phones? much of a difference from the 5?

yes i would say so, without a doubt

i had a 5 (not a 5S) so i am just now experiencing the fingerprint unlocking which is great

it is noticeably skinnier and bigger than it as well.. 5 minutes on a 6 and a 5 is just useless

it is faster as well but that is because Apple makes the OS (so that old versions become bricks when you update - one of my pet peeves)

i picked up a 16gb gold white one (always had a black iPhone since the 2) and am enjoying the switch

i will probably stay with an iPhone for a while since i have always had an ipod.. to be honest i use my iPhone more to play music than anything else. :)

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

I went to our local AT&T store to ask about the new 6's for my wife. The iPhone 6 is surely a thing of beauty. The screen seems to be a lot better, the 4.7" screen feels great in the hands, it seems a lot snippier in moving between screens, opening apps. I even played with the 5.5" screen and it's ginormous size gave me the Samsung Note nightmares I struggled with. As much as I love getting the best of the tech, when the time comes, I will upgrade to the 4.7" one.

Oh, and did realize? Imagine what they're gonna call the next gen, iPhone 6 Plus S? That's going to be an oddity.

#1730333Post 33 of 58

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

Colleague has it, the form factor and weight feels great. The curved sides make it real slippery though. I think the new form factor feels a lot more proportionate, like a larger iPhone 4, while the 5 has always felt narrow to me.

#1730335Post 34 of 58

Re: It's iPhone 6 day today.

I like my 128GB iPhone 6 so far. The fingerprint reader is the biggest game-changer for me, but I haven't really explored much else yet. I know the 5S had the fingerprint reader, but I never got that model so the concept is new to me.

The phone works fine with my car's iPhone connection, which is a relief. Sometimes the newer models end up incompatible with some car interfaces. Luckily, this one remains OK with the Audi MMI. Music plays, artwork displays on the car screen, and bluetooth calls still work.

The bigger size is nice because it's easier to read, but I am having trouble reaching the top of the screen when using the phone in one hand only. I have short fingers.

The 6 Plus is retarded. Might as well have an iPad Mini for a telephone. Looks like there are problems with people bending their 6 Plus phones in their pants pockets.

Just saw this article, http://finance.yahoo.com/news/iphone-6-plus-owners-reportedly-163109776.html

Oh yeah.... and AT&T bought back my wife's iPhone 5 for $200. That's pretty good considering 2 years of use and drops. :Naughty: I think that's how much it cost when we bought it, actually.

Tap (don't press) the home button twice with your thumb - it brings all the apps and things at the top of the screen down so you can reach it while holding it with one hand. :)
