I got to level 4, and I'm going crazy about not being able to get to 5! If anybody can get farther, let me know. No cheating, too. Get there legit. (Don't google any answers, if they even exist)

Nice! It's pretty easy to get to level 4, and there it starts getting tricky, having some programming knowledge helps. I'm in level 5 now, but I'll try to crack it later this afternoon.

Where did you got stuck at in level 4?

dude.. what's the password for 1st part?

#209686Post 8 of 59

Ok, just got to Level 6. All of the levels until level 5 are possible without any external software... once you get there you need to resort to tools that aren't part of Windows.

I think the password might be a red herring? Any hints on level 2 people?

#209927Post 14 of 59

I know the password but I do not know the username :( May the source be with you in your quest for the holly password.

#209928Post 15 of 59

Level 6 is pissing me off! Me and a coworker were racing to finish them, but we're both stuck on 6. We were able to get the passwords, but they're binary encrypted. We have the encryption type, but have no clue how to use it! I had to write a VB program to convert the password to a string, and another to try decrpyting it. UGH. I'm about to give up, because I have no clue what to do...

#209949Post 16 of 59

ok, I'm on level 4, but had to get a few small hints. This is very interesting, though.

yea, I downloaded a java decompiler here: http://kpdus.tripod.com/jad.html#general

and decompiled the java class. I'm still staring at the code to try to figure it out though.,

wrong! thats what I thought too. Here's a tutorial for the first 2 levels: http://u00n00s00e00e00n.i8.com/about.html . I know I cheated but I'd rather learn it than not ever be able to figure it out.

Level 8! :D

Level 7 is really easy if you use the right tool for the job (you use that program everyday... but not to it's full capacity)
Level 8! :D

Level 7 is really easy if you use the right tool for the job (you use that program everyday... but not to it's full capacity)
I'm at level 8 now, too. Level 7 was a little more involved than using a tool that you use every day... Especially since you have to make the web page believe that you're running Linux with Internet Explorer 7.66, and that you got to level 7 by clicking a link at http://www.microsoft.com/ms.htm. I'd like to know what everyday tool you used to do all that.

In case anybody feels like skipping ahead, I've saved some of the links to the pages as I pass them. I won't give anybody the answers since it's meant to be a challenge, but at least you guys can skip ahead if you want a preview of the next ones. If you want hints PM me and I might try to steer you in the right direction. I'll put it in white so if anyone doesn't want to see some Level 7 ideas can just skip it.

The way a website knows what software you are using to look at the site is asking the user's software for the User Agent, that's simply a text string that contains the software name, OS and it's compatibility with other browsers. So, any program that lets you change the user agent is good. And then you also need to cheat the referrer page, the one you supposedly used to get there.

Getright can do both. Lets you edit the user agent to anything you want and set up special refererrs for specific servers.

Level 9 now... really stuck there :x

#210775Post 32 of 59
I'll put it in white so if anyone doesn't want to see some Level 7 ideas can just skip it. Level 9 now... really stuck there :x
Right on. I used IE, regedit, notepad, my hosts file, and turned my PC into a web server... but I got it done nonetheless. I haven't even tried level 8 yet, once I passed 7 I decided to fulfill my [ms] fix. Good to see someone here actually knows how to use the Internet, aside from just searching and browsing on it.

#210900Post 34 of 59

Ooookay... I just got to level 9, and 8 was pretty tough. A lot of research needed on that one... In case anybody wants to look forward to level 9:
