Re: Macromedia bought my Adobe.

Hehehe. The news is the other way. Abobe bought Macromedia.

I am a freehand user.

I am interested to see what their plan is in the future. Will they stop all the macromedia software development or will they continue with it. Which software will be killed and so on.

Re: Macromedia bought my Adobe.

Wow... this is huge!! I know what the macromedia employees are going through right now... considering PeopleSoft, the company I worked for, got bought by Oracle.

Honestly I don't know if the combination of these two companies is really a good thing. Of course Macromedia is going to post on their that the reason the two companies are combining is so they can present a better product but when it comes down to it, it's all about the stockholders and the biggest return on their investment!

Adobe and Macromedia were competitors and I hope the combination of the two doesn't stop the innovation each would strive for to be that much better then the other.

Anyhow, this almost seems to be an almost normal occuring thing in the corporate world... Lets hope we will really benefit from the combination of the two.

Re: Macromedia bought my Adobe.

my company was recently bought by GE. Today's the first day after 60% of my department was laid off... it's empty down here. crazy feeling having to go through all the stuff that your friends (coworkers) of 4 years have and put it away :?

Some of the people had even been here for 15 years

Re: Macromedia bought my Adobe.

I don't remember writing the title like that but whatever. You can pretty much kiss freehand and fireworks goodbye. Flash is going to be awesome now.... better integration with aftereffects which will be huge for the big broadband showboat sites. This will definitely be big for adobe.

Re: Macromedia bought by Adobe.

wow. this is huge.. i like adobe products better.... of course macromedia flash is the shit, and adobes livemotion couldn't compete with it... maybe they felt the web design world was pulling away from them ..hehehe either way its good!

Re: Macromedia bought by Adobe.

I don't know, this would be like nVidia buying ATi, the competition to one up each other is gone now. The need to innovate to keep your product in the forfront is gone...you see what I mean. We'll see...

But it is big news, none the less.

someone had done so but i moved it back. it's a huge news item that transcends [me]. also when it was on [me] one of the [me] mods thought it would be funny to rename the topic title.

Re: Macromedia bought by Adobe.

My experience with Adobe products leaves me somewhat confused. There?ss the good, the reasonable & the awful :

  • The awful to me, is Acrobat...even though the PDF format is good in itself, I can?t see how it justifies the ammount of bloatedness of that program. Just compare it with the Free FoxIt Reader and you?ll see what I mean.

  • The reasonable : Photoshop.

  • The good : Adobe Audition - Adobe buying out Syntrillium and taking hold of Cool Edit Pro left some people fearing for the quality of the program, but to me, it is now the best Audio Editor out there, beating the likes of Wavelab and Soundforge, for a lot less money too. It could have gone so wrong, look what Sony did to Acid.

Actually they still have a lot of competitors in the higher end visual effects, broadcast, and 3d markets. All of which they seem to have plans to delve into or have once tried before..... haha dimensions. Still lots of improvement/things to develop.
