Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

I generally go through the 2 year cycle. I have a BB through work and only a couple of years ago, got myself an actual smartphone (seeing how BBs were taking a short dive down the deep end of smartness). During the last couple of years, I got a SGSII which I traded up for a Sammy Note, used that for a year, now I'm using my wife's retired iPhone 4 until my 2 years finishes and I will likely dive into, either the HTC One or the new iPhone 6 (if it's out by that time) or if I'm lucky, sell her old unlocked iPhone 4 and get both :)

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

I repair cell phones as part of my job. I can say that the S3/S4 are the WORST phones you could buy. Their obsession with trying to make the thinnest, lightest, largest screen phone has compromised durability. The S3's touch screen shatters at sometimes the slightest jostle and then in order to repair it it costs at least 200 American bucks cause the LCD is so thin that you have to destroy it to repair it.

Kamal has the best idea. iPhones and the HTC One are durable, thin and light. Toughest phone on the market though is the Nokia Lumia 920, that however has the Windows OS.

One of the reasons I am leaving Iphone is Itunes and the fact that I can use the droid as a USB.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

You got a brand new S4 and sold it without opening it? Why? What else did you have in mind to purchase?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

I was after a Macbook pro for a long time so I've exchanged the S4 with a Macbook Pro i7 late 2011.... add £300 on top of that...I'll stick to iPhone 4 and wait for now... I am really happy with the MBP :D

edit: Btw the S4 was a free upgrade from my carrier

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

I agree, I'm likely going to make the dive into an iPhone as well this time around. I hope they announce the 6 at WWDC instead of 5s.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

I saw that, I would personally get the international octa core version and root it.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

The Google version is not octa core? I thought it's the same hardware.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

Negative, all handsets US bound are with the Snapdragon Quad Core processors.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

Wow that sucks, I wonder why.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4

It had to do with global orders. Samsung's explanation is that they knew they wouldn't have been able to cope with worldwide orders for the devices which is why they split the load. You can google the countries which are getting the Snapdragon processors and Exynos (Octacore for the familiar) processors.

Sammy may make shitty electronics, but their Exynos processors are top notch, consistently beating processors from competing manufacturers in performance. I mean if you compare the benchmarks of Exynos against the Snapdragons, even though the Exynos quad core processor handling the load is clocked at 1.6 ghz vs 1.9 ghz on the Snapdragon, it's still beating out the faster clocked Snapdragons.

Which is why, if I go S4, it's going to be the GT I9500, the Exynos one.
