Today the much anticipated HTC One, the latest smartphone from the HTC family was unveiled. The new flagship Android phone from the brand now comes in a premium machined aluminum unibody shell, aligning it close to its main competition – the iPhone 5.

The new HTC One sports a 4.7-inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display and is among the first to feature the Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. Only weighing 143 grams and measuring 5.4 (137.4mm) x 2.7 (68.2mm) x 0.37 (9.3mm) inches, the phone is exactly as thick as the brand new Blackberry Z10. Also included in the phone are a 2,300mAh Li-polymer battery, radios for WiFi a/ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and 32GB or 64GB of storage. Highlight features are the dual stereo speakers and the new “UltraPixel” back camera, featuring a 4 megapixel chip.

The new HTC One is definitely at the very top of its class, now one has to see how consumer adoption is and how it performs compared to its competitors. Look out for the official release of the phone globally in early March 2013.

Only until the S4 is released. From a rooter's standpoint, HTC locked bootloaders are the biggest PITAs ever. Sammy makes it a breeze to get root.

Though I will give it to HTC to make a brilliant handset this time around.

In comparison, all you gotta do is run a piece of software on Sammys (the Zergrush exploit as it's known) and the phone's SU welcomes you with open arms.

Too funny, I just went through this video not an hour ago. I realize other than making phone calls, the one thing I use my smartphone a LOT for is taking photos. And HTC has NEVER managed to get their camera right. Between the HTC ONE and Experia Z, the Sony would be my pick. Granted they are still releasing shit software, the Experia Z isn't lacking in the beauty department by any means. Sony always has been known to make gorgeous products, even though their performance might be subpar at best.

Just saying what? That the HTC is meant for "average" consumers or that Sony is so shit it's not even on the list? Also I would take that study with a bucket of salt, they have Samsung below HTC which we all know just isn't right (Sammy sold more Notes and S3s than any premier competing handset HTC put out in 2012). Moreover, they have HP and Palm on that list meant to be for "consumer satisfaction" for God's sakes. When was the last time you saw a handset from either of those manufacturers.

Looking at all the positive reviews and INCREDIBLE low-light photo capabilities of the device, I'm increasingly inclined at getting a black HTC One for myself. The two MAJOR (well one more than the other) knocks against it are the inability to change the battery (I can live with that) with no SD card expansion slot? Wtf? In a day and age of HD videos, DJ sets, HD Movies, and photo-fiendish behavior, that is just simply inexcusable.

what's an "sd card expansion" slot? are you saying the phone's memory is what it is and can't be upgraded?

Not yet, I am still debating between getting the unlocked international one vs the ATT one because the HTC will likely be the phone to use when I travel overseas. Plus the 64 GB ones are not out yet.
