I must say after this weekend I am addicted. I bought like 40 bucks in games from the App Store this weekend due to the sales. Anyone else have some good games to share for iOS? I like playing games on this thing more than a PC now.

I'm not super into gaming anymore so nothing really hardcore that takes a ton of time or is difficult, so the ipad is good for this. Also I can lay on the couch and just point and click.

Some stuff I've got:

Heavy hitters you've heard of:

Angry Birds Star Wars Plants vs. Zombies Cut the Rope

Super creative:

Machinarium Letterpress Halcyon DreamPixels Splice ScribbleNauts Beat Sneak Bandit Girls Love Robots World of Goo

Others:

PeggleHD ZumaHD Continuity 2 Bumpy Road Kosmo Spin Containment ChuChu Rocket Tiny Tower TripleTown Monotaur Clash of Clans

Re: iPad games

What iPad did you get? The 4th Gen?

My favorite game right now is F-Sim Shuttle, on the iPad (although I have the iPad 2, I can only imagine how incredible it looks on the Retina Display). The game is brilliant. It's basically a SIM to land a space-shuttle and the better the descend and landing, the higher the score. The scenery, graphics, and things you can add to the game (hardware failure, weather instances, etc.) are just wicked. Tiny changes to the tilt of the iPad make compounding changes to the flight path and error correcting is what kills the game. I'm hooked to it right now.

Few others I've been hooked to during my recent long flights are (in no particular order)

 • CSR Racing

 • Highway Rider (Funny Bike Game)

 • Metal Storm (Jet Fighter game, Good Graphics)

 • The Heist (Brain game)

 • Aftermath (Zombie fun)

 • Zombie GS - a unique twist to a Zombie game where you're the gunner on an airplane and you're killing zombies and creatures that are attacking bunkers that have been created to save humans. It's very addictive, especially once you get the hang of using the weapons and upgrading them.

 • Aerox (Brilliant graphics, essentially maneuvering a ball through obstacles using the iPad/iPod Touch's Gyro)

 • Roadtrip 2

 • Dead Trigger (I don't think any other free game on Android / iOS can touch this game in terms of it's graphics, more Zombie goodness)

 • Asphalt - Racing game with another healthy dose of graphics.

Re: iPad games

I got the latest one, I thought it was the 3rd gen, the iPad 3? It is the one with the retina display.

I'm not really into any action games or anything like that for this so I haven't played any of those. I looked a few up though they look cool. I like more puzzle games and just indie/really creative stuff. Turn based stuff I can play with others, or puzzle type things are my fav, nothing like Doom or any of that stuff anymore.

I've just started playing Hero Academy if you want to play, it is free. It is like chess but with an RPG element where you can upgrade your units etc, it is pretty fun.

Also this site is pretty awesome with reviews and news etc: Touch Arcade: iPhone Game Reviews and News

Plus they have a really nice app so you can browse the site on your ipad and it will track games and let you know when prices go down on stuff.

Re: iPad games

"Where's My Water" is a physics puzzler where you have to guide water through tunnels you draw to allow an alligator to take a bath. Sounds silly, and it's made by Disney, which might also make you think it's for kids, but it's an incredibly deep game and the puzzles get very tricky as you advance. Highly recommended.

Re: iPad games

^^^ is the 'deep' review a pun? or are you reading something into it that I, and my feeble brain, cannot see?

but it is great!

Re: iPad games

I've always enjoyed sim and strategy games, so picket planes has had me hooked for a while.

Jelly Defense is the best tower defense game I've come across, a very well made game.

I've head really good things about ticket to ride, a multi player strategy game, if anyone wants to try it, let me know.

I'm up to about 50 games on my ipad now. Not all of those are pay or that good, a few are card games, but I've bought a lot the last few weeks. I really am enjoying mostly all of these more than any I've played on the pc in a while. I love these really creative indie games more than any call of duty crap.

Where's my water is tons of fun and has been getting a lot of play. I just bought Jelly Defense and will check that out. I also have been really liking Gesunheidt! Which is a really cute puzzle game with some great water color graphics. I bought 10000000 the other night and also Plague Inc and Outwitters and need to check those out next.

Also I have Ticket to Ride on my wach list but is it worth 7 bucks? I didn't read the entire review it looks like a good strat game but I swore I read it didn't even support multiplayer, or maybe that was Catan.
