Which grade is she in? What will she be using it for? If its just surfing, Skype etc.... You should be able to pick up an iPad 2 32Gb for a steal.

Re: Need to buy my daughter an iPad for school next year

I picked up the 4 on the day it was released and I'm loving it so far, but ask dusk said, she may be able to get along just fine with a 2 or 3 depending upon how she intends to use it. Moreover, unless she plans to store a bunch of movies, music and photos on it, 64G is probably overkill. I had a 32G iPad 1 and now this 32G iPad 4, and space has never been an issue even though I tend to acquire a LOT of apps.

You can probably find some really good deals on an iPad 1, but resist that temptation. There is already a fair amount of newer software that won't run on that older hardware or runs so slowly as to be useless, and that's only going to continue going forward.

Feel free to shoot me any other questions you might have.

@dusk - grade 9

Shot toasty - school going to be very strict on the movies/ music features.essentially a learning tool and she can collect apps as needed. I was looking at a 32 gig iPad 2 with wifi so if she is on a school tour or out the country i can still skype her.

Toasty, how are you enjoying the 4? You did have the 2 as well right? Is the 4 that much better? I know the CPU and the screen could well justify the desire to jump but for me it's, it's just enough where I'm still on the fence.
