Don't know what's going on with Apple

But Scott Forstall is on his way out?

Apparently he's taken the brunt for launching both Maps and Siri (the original launch) in beta modes that looked badly on Apple. Though I don't know how good it will look that Scott's leaving as he has been a pillar of presentation for the iOS software since the tail-end days of Jobs public appearances/presentations at WWDC.

Will be interesting to see how the market reacts to this news when it opens.

Re: Don't know what's going on with Apple

I heard that Googles deal with Apple was up a while back so they had to develop something on their own, and since their Maps wasn't very good that is what is out now, with everyone rightly bitching about it. But this guy refused apparently so co-sign the apology letter that Cook put out last week probably because he warned them that the product would be shit, so that helped scoot him out the door. He knew it too b/c he cashed a bunch of his stock the other week.

AAPL is down to ~$594 right now after hours. My friend has about $15k in AAPL right now he needs that shit to get up to 700 so he can cash out, so hes not too happy about going long on them again.

Well they spent $3.4 billion on R&D last year (up $1 billion), from the year before. Hopefully the money spent will bode well for them will do well. From the look of it, the ipod touch, and Iphone 5 and ipad mini are all going to be hits in their own categories.

Has anybody used Windows 8 for a few days? Seen the commercials and messed around with it in a Staples briefly but really.. it just reminds me of a Cell Phone. :Barf:

I have a macbook now but really, I have been debating on getting a cheapo used Lenovo and slapping Linux on it, I do miss it to some degree.

Interesting news. I hope this means no more faux textures in iOS/Apple apps.

Yea I gave it a whirl on a nice looking Lenovo Tablet / Laptop Hybrid and even the guys at the Windows 8 stall in Best Buy did not know some basic things when I asked "how do I access 'My Documents' on here"? and that was enough to end that conversation.

It does look very cell-phonish but given that it's riding on new architecture and the entire world is trying to merge the desktop / laptop / cell-phone environment to the cloud for instant accessibility anywhere, it's a brave departure for Microsoft's bread&butter engine.

I don't know how I feel about it right now, the PC consumer market is inexpensive and mass-consumed (read incredible options in freeware), the Mac environment has it's draw because I am smitten by how well this iPod Touch works and I'm curious to dive into the OSX / iOS Eco-system (with the 13" MBP Retina Display), but I don't think I will ever leave the PC environment, there's tons on there to like to give that idea a serious consideration (at least in the foreseeable future).

Apparently Forstall and Ivy didn't get along.
