when i start my XP machine, it sasy "Spooler subsytem App stopped ". On trying to print it gives me a similar message.

I can manually restart it - but it stops almost instantly apparently.

Google searches say - load new drivers.

I download latest driver - but it wont install - sating an error in installation (in addition it now says there is no printer connected)

Here is the detail in the error message if that means anything to anyone.

szAppName : spoolsv.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.6024 szModName : msvcrt.dll szModVer : 7.0.2600.5512 offset : 00037fd4

Its a windows XP machine - with a Samsung ML 2010 black laser printer.

Are you having any actual problems with your system, or is it just the error? Printer issues?

cant print to the printer at all, and now it says it cant even find the printer.

It doesn't sound like a printer issue, but I haven't experienced this issue myself. Sorry but I'm not able to suggest anything that you can't already find on Google.

Maybe its a hardware fault with the printer. Have you got another machine you could try and install the printer on.

i can print a test page from the the printer itself - so i don't think its that - but i can certainly try it with my laptop. I'm all out of options.

I was thinking the cable or the usb port may be the problem if the driver wont detect it during install.

i plugged into the laptop and could get it to install and work just fine.

I went back to the regedit - and took out every single possible reg entry that had the printer name in it (except one folder it would not let me touch) It would appear on restart that the spooler shut down is now fixed. The driver update stated that it loaded. However it still will not print - now just says printer error once it gets to the queue.

(i tried using a different usb port on the PC - it still did the same)

Any updated idea's ?

not sure if it helps but the register folder was named USBprint, the subfolder was was Samsung 2510.

retraced all those same steps again. unplugged the fucker entirely for 20 minutes. reinstalled everything once more. and it @#$% worked. 'donculous.
