Yup.. just got one of these this evening. Just wanted to appeal to the good people at [ms] at what are my options and what is the best thing to do from here.

I did some short research when I got home and from what I know, there are only 2 options.. 1.) ignore the Comcast letter, let Comcast give the plaintiff my information and wait for the Settlement letter/telephone calls, or 2.) go see an attorney, pay a couple hundred dollars for him/her to file a motion to quash or vacate the subpoena by the end of November.. hope I get quashed, if I don't, then wait for the Settlement letter/telephone calls. Are these my only options?

Any insight would be highly appreciated... thanks all :)

I dont know the answer to your question so this is slightly off topic, sorry :), how much were you downloading/uploading monthly and did you use anything like peerblock? I have read mixed reviews as to whether it is actually worth using that program.

without giving too much away - what does the letter say / falsely accuse you - or anyone- of exactly?

and is it from comcast themselves falsely accusing you of something - or is it from one of those legal teams etc?

Hey Huggie,

it is a letter from Comcast saying that they received a subpoena from some law firm requesting my information (along with 1400 others) and that I have 1-month to write a motion to quash in order to get dismissed from the complaint, which may or may not happen depending on the judge involved.

Comcast has identified my ip address supposedly as part of the 1400 persons involved that downloaded a specific video file from a bit torrent website... hence the letter i received.
