that review states that 4S is a 4g phone and its not - right? I think tis still 3g only (but one carrier is trying to say its 4g due to the network not the phone).
I'm am swaying more towards the android. today. tomorrow may be different.

yea it is not an HSPA+ device as far as I know. Plus you gotta have 4G in your area for it to really matter. If you're living in an area without 4g, its a moot point. But these days, there's wifi everywhere. Almost everyone on here has it at home and I also have it at work. Other than on the road, I don't think we'll really miss it but for that, even 3G is plenty for general surfing.

The other option is the Galaxy SII's big brother, the Samsung Note and it fits that near perfect spot between a large phone and a small tablet

honestly huggie, if you're going Sammy, go Sammy Note. It's got better performance scores than the SII and frankly is much nicer.

It's the new 5" Samsung galaxy note, 1gb ram, 1.4 ghz dual core processor, super a amoled + screen, 16 gb internal memory, Hspa+, I mean it's got everything going for it and that 5" 1280 x 800 screen is going to make reading an absolute joy. Uk release date is slated for nov 17 with a price tag of about £550, USA is sometime in nov, dates and carriers are fuzzy but Verizon is a confirmed carrier. I just hope to god they don't fuck with the original tech specs before releasing it stateside with a slower processor or shittier ram.

No way man, bezos is a warehousing guy not a tech guy. It's the reason the original kindle pricing has done the way of the hp tablet.

I've played with the fire and it is pretty cool if you can get past the it's not an iPad thing, and like an android based tablet. the only thing better than it in the tablet world than it right now really is the iPad. that thing above cost 550 gbp? srsly? that is 800 usd. that thing better suck me for it to cost more than an iPad, there is no way that price will fly.
honestly give a look at the fire coming out in 2 weeks. it is only 200 bucks and is 7". it will have integrated video streaming of the entire amazon prime library, it is hooked into your cloud player account so you can stream / download music from your amazon account and can read books on it if you have a kindle, plus the bowser will be going thru ec2 and that is going to pre-cache your content so web browsing will be quick. and it is cheep. the demand has exceeded expectations from what I've heard on the order of millions, so it is going to be a hit I'm pretty sure.

4G is just a marketing term. Check out the reviews where they test dl/ul speeds and the 4S is even faster than the competition. The only thing that is a bit slower is regarding latency, which is not really important in a smartphone.

so after 6 long months, I found my HTC buried deep inside one of my desk drawers between my files. Haven't been this psyched in a very long time. Now having played with it incessantly since I found it, I think I'm gonna stick with Android and probably go with the Samsung Galaxy SII. The only reason I was considering Apple was Facetime but if Skype video chat works, I think I can accept the slightly poorer performance of the Camera. The larger volume of free apps on Android is more welcome than having to pay for them on the iPhone.

I dont like the shape of the Nexus, the Sammy Galaxy SII is the best designed Android phone, the HTCs are pretty good too.

Huggie did you get your phone yet? If you didn't and you're still thinking Android, wait for the Samsung galaxy s2 HD. Due out this month IIRC, its a faster 1.5 GHz processor, 4g, and much higher resolution.
