got it the day it came out.. it seems to be more of an expansion pack to gt3 rather than a game that has evolved during the time of development... the graphics are much better along with better sound, an ass load of cars, a few new tracks.. kinda disappointed about all the hype & how long it took to get it out, BUT im still hooked like salt on a slug...

a few new features i like. 1)the ability to clear a series of your records to re-race & win another prize car. 2)the set "A" "B" "C" so you can have tranny, suspension, blown / NA, etc. settings for different tracks. 3)seems to be more races because each manufacturer has a series of races along with country specific series races.

downside - how frustrating some of the liscense tests are..

other cool thing.. its got my car..
00-prelude SH - real life american version 98-prelude SiR S spec - video game & japanese version (or as close to it as it gets) so i can blow it to kingdom come with a big ass shell popping prolly more than about 350-400 rather than spending a crap load of moeny to have a smog hazard - gas guzzler.

if you have the GT3 file on your memory card, you can upload 100k and the first two liscences to GT4.

did that.. i just ended up dumping it all into my prelude rather than something that could help make me money.. now im struggling on getting my miata up to snuff..

well i was in hong kong when that game came out their around christmas 2003, so that game has been out for a long time. i only played that game forabout half an hour at my friends house last night and i thought it was fucking amazing, i feel that you cannot really improve on the driving physics too much from gt3 but the graphics in general are so much better for example the shadows that reflect of the hood of the car almost made it hard to pay attention to the road. and for me the el capitain track in yosemite its the coolest thing ever.

Yeah I belive the game is hyped too much but it is still fun. I think the physics seem better than GT3. I kind of don't like the fact that some of the returning stages are changed such as Laguna Seca. The famous corkscrew is wider than in GT3.

i think you mean the prologur version. the full version of gt4 has only been just released..

Got the game and been playing it all weekend. Definetly an improvement over the last one.

My only problem is that the Soundtrack is hurting! Opening movie -- VAN HALEN?!?! :? With all the budget Sony had for this title, you figure they would have got Chemical Brothers or someone to do a sick opening number for it...

i like it when you fail a licence test, they play the duff man song from the simpsons, ohhhhh yeahhhhh

well....... has anyone tried online racing???

#372071Post 18 of 20

i have done the online racing. works extremely well if your computer has a good processor and cable modem. (you cant do a staight up online racing mode, you have to do a LAN race, then hook your LAN line up to your computer and visit a website((forget it now)) then you can basically act like your PS2 is online).

one thing i gotta say after playing this game for a little while now.

the graphics are MIND BLOWING. i have the high def connectors and i play it on my baby (60x40 inch sony wega high def) the game allows you to go stright up to 1080pi and when you play it on that, i seriously feel like im am watching a race on speedvision. i got stoned and raced my lancer in the lancer only race, only to find myself watching a 20 minute race in replay mode and enjoying every single second. this game is the only one that compares to WoW in terms of ggraphical beauty. buy it and enjoy it. this is gonna take a few months.

Re: gran turismo 4

I am looking forward to the XBOX counterpart.. Forza, will have online through the live service. GT3 just disapponted me. Havent heard good things about this one yet, but I will pick up when it goes to $20.00.

forza sucks. not really a simulator, the handling is way off, acts more like an arcade racer. just uses real car names.
