Just came across news of the 'Playstation Vita' today.

Seems like an update to the PSP.

Can anyone describe the actual differences between the two? Is it a better console and so the games are better than the PSP.

I very rarely use my PSP these days, and judging by the price of this Vita thing I won't be upgrading!

Re: Playstation Vita??

I was wondering about the next PSP. such ancient material. 3D and all those visually aspiring bullshit?

Re: Playstation Vita??

Its gonna be on my Christmas list. From all the videos that I caught on E3, it looks wicked. Just can't help myself, I'm a gadget freak. And the Vita is a pretty innovative in terms of handheld devices.. I probably won't use it as much for gaming as I will as a portable multimedia device especially when travelling. Youtube has some really cool videos from E3 that you should check out for yourself.

Re: Playstation Vita??

managed to get my hands on a demo set yesterday and i was impressed by it .. the transition between game and its home interface is so smooth and u can jump in and out of the game at any time with the home button provided that u save your game before exiting .. the buttons on the home interface is so fluid as well

the vita has front and back cameras ... theres a touch pad at the back of it and the screen itself is a touchsceen as well ... of the games that i tried that had been installed in the demo set ... only 1 game that utilizes the touch pad and it wasn't that big a function as well but i think it has potential to be more useful when better games and apps are out

i think when better apps are developed it should revolutionize portable gaming and social media as well as it can do Augmented Reality as well as the possible usage of facebook/twitter and possibly skype

i don't think i've been this excited about a new gadget since the iphone was released and before that was probably the PS3

Sucks that PSP games are now obsolete.

I really wouldn't think so mate... you bet could rip iso copies of your older games to be played on the new vita .... or did you mean that the game makers aren't catering to psp device itself?

Re: Playstation Vita??

Anybody got any reviews of this?

Im getting my usual jittery fingers and I know I'll end up buying this. Unchartered and CoD are good franchises.

Cheapest I've seen this is £199 with a 4GB card and one game.

Re: Playstation Vita??

The COD game is not very good - the multiplayer is pretty broken.

It's kind of surprising that they haven't released a must have game - The Uncharted game felt kind of rushed and I didn't really care for the touch screen stuff like hand to hand fighting.

Re: Playstation Vita??

Go for it Greg... I got mine about two weeks ago, haven't played it too much as it's supposed to be an xmas present. I mostly just loaded some games up on it and messed around with some settings. I have about 6 games loaded up on it now which will keep me going for awhile.

I was going to get a 3DS but It doesn't do half the stuff the Vita does plus I am bored of Mario.

Sony are missing a trick with their marketing, they need to let people know it does more than just play games.

Re: Playstation Vita??

^^^ More than just play games as well as stop making proprietary memory sticks.. which just blows!

Re: Playstation Vita??

It does blow but that's the model they choose, maybe it was abit risky. Hopefully 2013 will be better for Vita sales, it's a slick bit of kit and in my eyes it suited my needs more as I travel abit.

Re: Playstation Vita??

You know I wouldn't mind as much if the memory sticks weren't over priced.
