just moved out here from windsor last week and need places that i can party, dont necesarily have to be places that play prog house but all those would help too, went to Cowboys on thursday thinking it would be great but felt like a pervert looking at 16 yr olds, bartenders were hot as hell though ... i need something a little bit older crowd but not a bar with cowboys and moms, cause to be honest i dont think the country music will ever grow on me... the people i work with are clueless and told me to go to cowboys so they are off my list of references... pubs, clubs, bars, anything at all, give me a clue as to where to go and ill check it out if people go to these places... the night these places are good would be a huge help too... thanks for any help, fellow calgarians!!! cheers :Cheerz:

Re: calgary - help me out

There's alot of house if you know where to look. Some of my fav's:

Thursdays Foundation @ Cherry Lounge, w/ Micah, Chris Lapietra, Kenny Yong, Darren Yee Believe @ Mynt (ultralounge level), w/ Cary Chang

Fridays Tahiti Treat @ Bamboo Tiki Room, w/ Jon Delerious Sublevel @ The Limelight (upstairs Tequila Nightclub), w/ Joey Camacho & B-Boogie Horizon @ The Warehouse, w/ Dom G, Special Agent, Tyler C @ Feul, w/ Cary Chang

Saturdays Blush @ Cherry Lounge, w/ Jon Delerious Session @ The Limelight (upstairs Tequila Nightclub), w/ Russell Scott @ "RedRoom" / "No-Name Lounge" on 17th, w/ DJ Rice D'Luxe @ The Whiskey, w/ Mikey da Roza @ Feul, w/ Cary Chang

Sunday Sunday Skool @ The HiFi Club, w/ DJ Rice

There's also a few breaks nights throughout the city. But seriously, avoid cowboys like the plague (because it sure as hell smells like plauge). That should keep you busy for a while. Pick up FFWD for some other alternatives.

Happy clubbing.

^ Darren, spreading the good word! Hai Karate @ HiFi on Thursday's is always worth a peek. Isn't the same as it was at the Gallery, but it's still a great night.

For pubs, find 17th ave and just walk. You'll find something that tickles your fancy. The Rose & Crown is a great place to start.

Re: calgary - help me out

well, I finally moved to cowtown. got a job as a business analyst with an oil and gas firm (i dont think there is anyone in calgary who doesnt work for an o&g).

who wants to do a meetup? don't know that many people here yet, and I need to go out every so often or I go a bit nutty.
