Dr.Kucho! Answers Five Questions for Beatportal
- As of late, you have been releasing a number of tracks that are hitting the charts on Beatport, how do you feel about that and can you tell us your recipe?
-In regards to studio work, I recently took about 2 years off from production. When I came back to work the music was really different, it was kind of tricky to get used to the new sound to make edgy tracks again. I pretty much just dove into it and once I started to see them hitting the charts and tons of Djs playing them, I got that "mission acomplished" feeling :-)
- Can you tell us a little bit about this competition and why you decided to do it?
-To be honest, I never liked the idea of other producers remixing my tracks very much, not sure why! From the start of my production, as soon as my tracks started to gain success, I received many offers from other producers from all over to remix them, but the idea was not appealing to me. Having my tracks remixed by others is something I am not comfortable with, and I think I need to learn how to accept other producers interpretations of my tracks, so a remix contest is the best way to start!
- Why did you choose "Eastern Promises" for the Remix Competition?
- Eastern Promises is an Epic-Mystical track and these type of tracks are not common these days. I wanted to get people interested in this stuff a little more and I also think these tracks are the best choice for a remix comp since the vocals can be mixed with a wide option of grooves, sounds, and various styles/genres. They all can sound amazing if they are executed correctly. For this Remix Competition, we are accepting all genre based remixes!
- It seems like you have a great relationship with Witty Tunes as you have been doing a number of things for them. Can you shed some light on that?
-I like to work with people I feel 100% comfortable with and that I can trust, and vice-versa. With the Witty Tunes camp, we have been great friends for several years and I trust their vision. Mike & Royce have put a lot of energy into the label and have been very successful over the past 2 years. I know I am in good hands with them.
- What else can we look forward to from the Doctor?
-Below are a few bits that just got released and some will be coming out soon. I think there is something in there for everyone to pick from:
Dr. Kucho! - "Old School Flavour EP" ("Beat for me" / "Kung fu funk") - Disc Doctor Mike Mash - "Marimba" (Dr. Kucho! Remix) - Haiti Groove Recordings Gaby Dershin feat Hadley - "Rebels of the Sun" (Dr. Kucho! Remix & Dub) - Seven Limited Records
Out Soon: Dr. Kucho! - "Eastern Promises" - Witty Tunes DropX - "Bombardier" (Dr. Kucho! remix) - Disc Doctor Records Dr. Kucho! - "Holly Spirit" (including new remixes) at Net's Work Label Dr. Kucho! - "Just be Good to me" - Disc Doctor Records
...and tons of new projects I am working on at the moment :)
