i have never used these, but would like to start, I am starting to feel guilty about using soulseek, if you buy a track do you just get one mix or do you get more than one, as in the tracks that would be on the vinyl release

Depends on the store. Release sells .mp3 EPs - you usually get 2 or 3 tracks (and it's a bit more expensive). But most other services sell on a per-track basis only. The nice thing is that many of these places also sell previously unreleased remixes of the tracks.

Most of the ones listed here are sites that look after their own labels

EDM & Beatport are the main general sites but City16.com is also one to check out that hasn't been listed yet

fade records has their songs on mp3... i think yoshitoshi has a store too.

But how many of these shops sell MP3s? city16.com has a geat selection, but they are all in winamp and coded so that you can only play them back from one platform.

maybe, but I have always hated WindowsMedia audio. anybody care to comment on the quality of the digital downloads from city16, compared to 320 kbps MP3 ???

I just got into digital downloads, still love vinyl, but I can't afford to buy all the vinyls I want...

So I already tried 3Beat, EDMDigital, Beatport, Fiber and another one that hasn't been posted here yet - [url]www.trackitdown.net[/url] .

So far I can say 3Beat's service/quality rocks.

On the other hand, I got some 320 kbps tracks from Beatport that suck in quality, kind of dissapointed from them. Same goes for trackitdown, 320 only on the new releases. Plus I got 2 tracks that were cut off in the end, I have to email them and complain now....

I've used them several times and have had no problems at all. My only gripe is that the mp3s are only encoded in 256 kbps, but it is still (barely) playable for gigs, IMO.

digital shops rule and are getting better and better and better!

edmdigital is breaking out as the leader of vinyl labels signed to digital.... some labels are even giving them advanced copies of tracks not yet out on promo.... this idea is the best as it give the mp3 world a place to buy before the vinyl is out and ripped off on slsk.

fiberlineaudio.com seems to be the best the first and best full digital label online... there are a few others but it seems as if WE are the first too take it very seriously.... yes I said we... shameful plug

i just bought some tracks from city16 => sound quality is excellent ! ... better than beatport ...

the problem, tracks are wma protected ... you must find a workaround to burn it
